Frequently Asked Questions
What areas do you treat for fire ants?
We provide fire ant treatments for a variety of properties, including residential areas, HOA communities, commercial spaces, RV parks, sports complexes, plant nurseries, schools, horse farms, and golf courses.
How does your fire ant treatment work?
Our treatment involves a unique baiting system that targets the fire ant colony at its source: the queen. Worker ants carry the bait back to the nest, where it is fed to the larvae and the queen. The bait sterilizes the queen, preventing her from reproducing and eventually leading to the collapse of the entire colony.
Is your fire ant treatment safe for pets and children?
Yes, treated areas are safe for immediate use, allowing your family and animals to enjoy the outdoors without any delay.
How long does it take to see results from the treatment?
You can expect your property to be nearly free of fire ants in a matter of a few weeks. The treatment targets the queen, and once she is sterilized and the colony collapses, the ants will gradually disappear.
Do I need to schedule regular treatments to keep my property fire ant-free?
Yes, to ensure your property remains free of fire ants, we recommend treating your yard two to three times a year. Fire ants can fly to mate and establish new colonies, so regular maintenance is crucial to prevent re-infestation.
What makes your treatment different from other pest control methods?
Unlike many traditional sprays that only kill surface ants, our bait system targets the queen and provides long-lasting control.
Can I get the bait from the store and treat myself?
Yes, but we can buy the bait at wholesale pricing and pass those savings along to you. Our experience and equipment enable us to treat large areas of land efficiently saving you not only money, but time.
Why do fire ants keep coming back?
Fire ants can return for several reasons. New queens regularly fly and establish colonies, meaning new infestations can begin at any time. Colonies from neighboring properties can also expand into your yard.
Additionally, treatments don’t last indefinitely. Over time, their effectiveness can diminish—especially after existing ant activity has been controlled.
Many store-bought or DIY treatments only eliminate the ants you see on the surface. If the queen and the rest of the colony remain underground, the colony can rebuild and continue to spread.
How does your guarantee work?
First Coast Fire Ants is fully licensed and insured and stands behind the results of our service.
Our goal is to control fire ant infestations by reducing the number and size of colonies across your property. Fire ant control takes time, and patience is an important part of the process.
For best results and year-round control, we recommend three applications per year.
If, after allowing ten (10) weeks from the application date, fire ant activity returns before your next scheduled treatment, we will re-treat the affected area at no additional cost.
While our treatments are designed to provide effective control, no service can guarantee that fire ants will never return to a property.
